One of the worst events that can happen to a home, business or property owner/ manager is flooding and overflow. Geyen's cleaners have had extensive experience extracting and disinfecting water damage in carpeting over the years. Contact us immediately if you find an abundance of water in your carpeting. Below are the basics of our water damage cleanup process:
Removing Moisture
Using a tool specific to water damage situations and our truck-mounted vacuum systems (or portable extractors if your location is unreachable), we take our time and suck out all of the water in your carpet. It is key to extract water that reaches to the base of your carpet. If water has soaked the carpet padding underneath, it is imperative you take the carpet up and fold it away from the soaked area.
Cleaning the Damaged Carpet
Next, we use the same truck-mounted extraction system but spray the affected carpet with 180º water before extraction to help destroy any bacteria that may have already taken hold. It may seem strange to use water in a situation where water was the initial problem, but at this point we have removed the water that was sitting in your carpet.
Disinfecting & Deodorizing
The final step is to mist an antimicrobial disinfectant onto the affected area. Products such as these are very effective (and expensive). We will also mist a disinfectant deodorizer to aid in the disinfecting process.
